We already wrote about the all-new Land Cruiser Prado, coming in 2024. But, there is one version of the current model that draws more attention than others. The 2023 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado TXL is a seven-seater with two different engine options and many advanced features. The TXL model is not available worldwide. For example, you won’t find this trim in Australia, where Prado is the most popular. There, GX, GXL, VX, and Kakadu are the packages for the SUV. Fans hope the old generation’s last edition might feature the new model.
The 2023 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado TXL is also available with similar options, but without the third row of seats. In that case, look for the Prado TX. Under the hood is a 2.8-liter D-4D. Optionally, in some markets, there is still a 3.0-liter mill available. Anyway, things will change when the new generation arrives. Diesel engines are under the question mark and SUVs will probably introduce a hybrid drivetrain.
2023 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado TXL Options
The TXL is top of a line option. We already said that the L in the nameplate indicates the seating layout. This is a seven-seat SUV, while the GX is a five-seater. The 2023 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado TXL is a high-level package. It comes with leather seats and three-zone climate control. Also, highlights of the trim level are body-color bumpers, chromed front grille, and parking sensors, front and back. It also offers options from lower trims. For example, halogen lights and power-folding seats are standard. The TXL is a better choice for larger families, where you need extra seats. It is also slightly longer than the TX.
Diesel Engines
While we are waiting for the new Land Cruiser Prado, the company continues to deploy its legendary configurations centered around oil burners. The main drivetrain in most markets is a 2.8-liter D-4D. The 2023 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado TXL uses an automatic transmission, while four-wheel drive is an optional upgrade. The system delivers 204 horsepower. A 3.0-liter mill is also available with 165 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. The rear suspension is electronically modulated with an adaptive system. Normal, Sport, and Eco will change the configuration and drive comfort. The Prado is also equipped with some serious off-road equipment. So, you can select multiple drive modes, depending on the road condition. Mud&Sand, Loose Rock, Mogul, Rock&Dirt, and Rock are available setups.
All-new Land Cruiser Prado
The company is updating the SUV. We already saw the first spy photos, but that is not all. There are many things to be seen and the official release date is not set yet. We expect the new Prado to be inspired by its more prominent and famous sibling, Toyota Land Cruiser. The company launched a new generation of large luxury SUVs. Now, it is the turn of the LC Prado. While we can predict the styling language, the drivetrain is still a mystery. The Japanese carmaker is going greener. They are dropping diesel units and building more hybrids. One of those systems will most likely find its way under the hood of the 2024 Land Cruiser Prado.
