The GX will soon introduce the third generation and the new badge – GX 550. We expect a lot of changes. But, before that happens, the current version has something to say. The latest update will bring the 2024 Lexus GX 460 Black Line. We can also call it the farewell edition since the next-gen SUV will debut in the following season.
The Lexus GX 460 Black Line is going to add a few notable features that put the grade between Premium and Luxury trims. A couple of unique paintjobs are making the appearance more distinctive. The package also gains a few extra features compared to its predecessors and gets a price hike. Now, the Black Line costs nearly $65,000.
2024 Lexus GX 460 Black Line Upgrades
The price goes up by $7,000 compared to the base model. For that investment, you are getting plenty of options. Starting from the color palette, you will notice two new paints. Although it is called Black Line, the SUV is available in the Nori Green Pearl paintjob. But, dark accents make the vehicle more aggressive. You’ll find them all around the body – on skid plates, fog lamps, grille. The 2024 Lexus GX 460 Black Line also comes with 18-inch black wheels, roof spoiler and shark fin. Of course, all of those add-ons are black.
Under the spotlights is the Panoramic View Monitor. This is an advanced system that previews the surroundings of the vehicle from a bird perspective. Inside, designers are using a unique approach and mix different materials and colors.
Features and Safety
The Black Line is an upgrade of the Premium package. So, it uses most of the options the lower grade is offering, or upgrades them with higher-end versions. Overall, the impression is very positive, thanks to the intuitive infotainment system. Its center is a 10.3-inch monitor. All leading services are included, for Amazon, Android, or Apple. Lexus Enform has a 3-year trial, 4 USB ports, and a remote engine start.
The safety is at the top level, as for every other GX. The Black Line also uses Safety System+ with advanced driver-aid options. Pre-collision system features pedestrian detection sensors. Lane departure alert and lane keep assist are already standard. The 2024 Lexus GX 460 Black Line also adds auto high beams and intuitive parking assistance. Blind-spot monitors are an optional feature.
Engine and Specs
Under the bonnet of the 2024 Lexus GX 460 Black Line is an old V8 engine. It is one of the first things the company is going to replace with the new generation. Modern days put efficiency over performance, and a 4.6-liter mill is pretty thirsty. The engine can deliver 301 hp and 329 lb-ft of torque, while AWD is standard. The special version carries over the towing capacity of 6,500 pounds. Trailer Sway Control is part of the Vehicle Stability Control system, helping haul heavy cargo.
The SUV is equipped with some serious off-road gear. Lexus is utilizing the Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System. This feature improves both on and off-road driving impression. The GX also uses Adaptive Variable Suspension with electronically controlled dampers, leading to multiple drive modes: Normal, Sport and Comfort.
The Lexus GX 460 Black Line is an excellent off-roader, but the Luxury grade offers additional package to enhance the performance even more. For example, you will get the Multi-Terrain Monitor, an extremely useful feature that will show you surroundings thanks to multiple cameras. The optional Off-Road bundle also adds a transmission cooler and fuel tank protector.
Other Versions
So, the Black Line takes the position between Premium and Luxury packages. The Base version is the entry-level model, which costs only $1,500 below the Premium. But, the gap between other two was too big and the Black Line jumped in as the mid-range offer. Well, the offer is totally different. The Premium version adds only a few things, while the Luxury package comes with 19-inch wheels, adaptive suspension, premium leather and audio system. The new version will be even more exclusive, but the main change is the redesign and the new engine.
2024 Lexus GX 460 Black Line Release Date, Price
The 2024 Lexus GX 460 Black Line will be available in a limited number of examples. We believe the company is not producing more than 3,000 units. It is about 10 percent of overall sales in past few years. Anyway, when it is sold out, there won’t be additional productions. The price will be closer to $65,000. Last time, it was around $63,000.
The all-new Lexus GX 550 is on the way, as well as the mysterious Lexus TX, so many potential buyers will wait for this model, instead of purchasing an old one. So, this is the last chance for the company to sell as many SUVs with the GX 460 badge before it is replaced with a newer, better version.
