The 2024 Lexus UX is now powered by only a hybrid engine. The company dropped a classic four-pot plant and the UX 200 model. The UX 250h is the only option. That is not a good idea, although the hybrid setup returns excellent numbers and makes the crossover perform well. But, buyers want options. One of them might come in 2025 if the UX becomes an all-electric vehicle.
For now, there are no official statements about this. So, let’s stick to what we got, and that is the 2024 Lexus UX 250h. You can tune your ride with several trim levels and optional upgrades. Although it is the smallest model in the lineup, the company offers the most popular package – the F Sport. It won’t enhance the specs numbers, but the ride will be way more impressive. An all-wheel drive is standard, but there are many other features that will draw attention as well.
2024 Lexus UX 250h Specs
Let’s go straight to the business. The UX is the luxury crossover that belongs to the subcompact segment. So, perfect for drivers without too much experience, youngsters, and those who look for an extra dose of premium options. As a small SUV, we don’t expect high outputs. A discontinued four-cylinder petrol setup was good for 169 horsepower. Actually, that is not bad, having in mind the size of the vehicle.
Now it’s been dropped and the 2024 Lexus UX 250 hybrid is the only choice. Engineers combine a 2.0-liter gas engine with an electric motor and 24 kW battery. The total output of the system is 181 hp and the gas mileage is 40 mpg combined. The automatic transmission sends power to all wheels. From there, we see only an all-electric crossover as an upgrade. A plug-in hybrid system is not so likely for a small vehicle.
Electric Crossover Concept (Already Available in Europe)
Lexus is already building its first electric SUV in the US. That is the RZ450e, a sibling to the Toyota bZ4X and Subaru Solterra. All those vehicles are sharing the same platform. Well, the electric UX is not announced yet in the United States, although the company is offering it to European buyers already. The 2024 Lexus UX 300e might be here by the end of the year. It is not the first time that companies are launching novelties in other markets before they carry over new models to the US. But, it wouldn’t be the first time to miss the North American market.
Anyway, if the 2024 Lexus UX 300e happens, it will be the same vehicle we can find in Germany, France, and other big European countries. The range of the EV is 250 miles (400 km). The company is improving the charging system, so by the time the UX 300e arrives in the US, time will definitely be shortened.
Besides that, the vehicle is packed with advanced options. Buyers in Europe are getting 18-inch wheels, leather seats, power tailgate, Lexus app and LexusLink service, and Safety System+, while HUD remains optional. We’ll also see what kind of self-driving options the crossover has.
2024 Lexus UX Equipment
The base version of the 2024 Lexus UX features four possible trims. Another one could join the lineup next year, to refresh the offer. But, the UH 250h stays the base one. It comes with the Safety System 2.5+, 18-inch alloy wheels, and simulated leather. You can also add a hands-free liftgate, a 10-inch infotainment system (instead of a 7-incher), or parking sensors.
Some of those options are standard for the Premium grade. It also adds color-keyed overfenders and a power rear door with a kick sensor. Front seats will get heating and cooling. Sunroof also enhances the overall impression.
New for the hybrid model is the F Sport package. It is available for the subcompact crossover in two versions – F Sport Design and F Sport Handling. For the first one, the roof is in contrasting color compared to the body. Also, special treatment will make the appearance more appealing and distinctive.
The 2024 Lexus UX 250h F Sport Handling adds a unique suspension setup for a smoother ride. Other features exclusive to this package are sports front buckets with bolsters, a sports steering wheel, a special shift knob, and a few extra accents around the body. The Luxury model is discontinued with the petrol engine and it might be back for the 2024 YM with some high-end systems.
2024 Lexus UX Price
The base MSRP of the UX will stay at the same level as for the current version. That means for $37,000 you can buy a luxury subcompact crossover. Premium package and the F Sport Design are $2,500 higher. The F Sport Handling is just under $44,000.
It might seem to be too much for the small crossover. However, have in mind that the Lexus UX has a great resale value. Plus, the hybrid engine with 40 mpg will save you a lot of money on fuel.
