The 2023 Toyota Vios is a compact sedan for certain markets, such as Southeast Asia and China. If we have to compare it to other models in the lineup, that should be the Corolla. Still, the Vios brings some differences. First, it is slightly shorter than its sibling. But, for example, you will find it in sedan and hatchback variants. Like every other Toyota vehicle, the Vios will offer versatility, reliability, and a good resale value. There are some things to be improved, but that won’t happen before 2025.
For now, the company will try to expand the market, while the more significant impact should happen after the all-new model debuts. Until then, the 2023 Toyota Vios will get power from a 1.5-liter petrol engine. Hybrid is not an option in Asian markets. Trim levels and packages are pretty much the same. Toyota keeps pace with the latest technologies. However, as not so rich market, the company will have to adjust the offer and throw out some of the cool features from the base packages.
Equipment and Options
Here is the list of accessories the sedan and hatchback are going to have. LED headlights are standard, as well as a set of 16-inch wheels. Larger rims are available as well or come along with some other upgrades. For example, the CVT automatic gearbox pairs 17-inch wheels. On the inside, highlights are a 9-inch infotainment system, a 7-inch driver’s display and a tilt/telescoping steering wheel. One of the coolest features for the entry-level variant of the 2023 Toyota Vios is the air purifier system.
Optional upgrades include higher trim levels and separate features. Toyota’s Safety Sense system is becoming more serious as you pay more for packages. At some point, the Vios comes with adaptive cruise control, pre-collision alert with automatic braking, lane departure warning, and automatic high beam. A blind-spot monitor is also available, as well as parking sensors with a rear parking camera.
2023 Toyota Vios Engine and Specs
A 1.5-liter engine is still under the hood of the 2023 Toyota Vios. However, the company is not using the old configuration, but the one built by Daihatsu. Other two vehicles getting this system are Toyota Veloz and Toyota Avanza. Compared to its predecessor, the 2NR-FE powerplant can deliver 105 hp and 138 Nm of torque. A manual transmission is standard, and you can upgrade the system with a CVT gearbox. At the moment, it seems to be the base setup, since buyers need to wait for the models with a stick. An automatic parking brake is included. The auto-hold feature as well. Drums replace disc brakes on Vios with manual transmission. Also, this variant uses hand brake. Drivers can select Eco or Sport drive modes.
Some other markets also offer a 1.3-liter turbocharged petrol engine. Again, manual and CVT transmissions are offered. Outputs are 99 horsepower and 123 NM of torque.
2023 Toyota Vios Colors
The new season brings fresh paintjobs. This is always an exciting upgrade since even owners of old vehicles want to paint their rides. Orange Metallic, Platinum White Pearl Mica, Silver Metallic, Red Mica Metallic and Nebula Blue Metallic are standard members of the palette. Toyota could add some special paints later in 2023. For example, in the Philippines, there is a different naming. The company offers White Pearl Crystal Shine, Alumina Jade Metallic, Black I, Super Red V and Grayish Blue Mica Metallic.
2023 Toyota Vios GR Sport
The GR department has delivered a lot of new packages recently. One of them will be the 2023 Toyota Vios. While the drivetrain is not upgraded (1.5 plant + CVT), engineers tuned the suspension to deliver a sportier ride. That is mostly all when it comes to driving the 2023 Toyota Vios GRS. But, the exterior and interior continue to build up the vehicle. On the outside, the G package is used as the base. Then, the GR team adds a few details to make the sedan more aggressive. For example, there are new front bumpers, side skirts and spoilers. Special 16-inch wheels are wrapped in performance rubber.
Inside the cockpit, the layout is pretty much the same as for the rest of the lineup. Of course, as the top trim level, the GR Sport comes with the most advanced options. A few GR badges are making a statement. Also, there are unique gauges and the display shows more details about drive mode, speed, gear, etc. Red stitches around the cabin are very cool, especially on leather surfaces, which replace cloth upholstery. Sports seats are also added. There is a power-adjusting system coming along. The 2023 Vios GRS will also offer a lot more small upgrades that only real fans will spot.
Release Date
The new model is already out in some markets. But, the complete lineup, including the GRS package, will be available in the first half of 2023.
