The 2024 Toyota Crown might be a new sedan at US dealerships, but this nameplate exists for nearly six decades. Toyota brought it to the United States as a mid-size car, positioned between Mirai and Corolla. Like many other sedans, the Crown will also be available as a hatchback, wagon and even crossover. The manufacturer also promised further upgrades in 2024.
Under the hood of the 2024 Toyota Crown remains a hybrid system. Buyers will choose between a fuel-friendly configuration with 42 mpg combined or the performance-tuned setup with 340 horsepower. One of the downsides will be a limited number of trim levels – only three packages are available in the current edition. We could see the expansion here.
As the all-new model for the 2023 season, we don’t expect any notable change for the upcoming car. Only upgrades of grades and additional equipment are logical. But, don’t underestimate Toyota – the company that always finds a way to surprise fans and enthusiasts.
2024 Toyota Crown Pricing
Without equipment upgrades, there is no reason for Toyota to increase the MSRP. The base version of the 2024 Toyota Crown is the XLE and it costs $39,950. The mid-range offer is the Limited edition with a $45,550 price tag. In both cases, you are getting a 2.5-liter engine with excellent fuel economy.
Also, AWD is standard all across the lineup. The top-of-the-range model is the Platinum and the main upgrade is the Turbo Performance Hybrid MAX configuration. The price of this model is $52,350.
You can select premium paintjobs for $425 or $975 (bi-tone colors). Platinum version is heavily loaded, so there are no additional packages available for this one. You can purchase the Advanced Tech bundle for the Limited version. Plus, there are plenty of single accessories available for all of the models.
2024 Toyota Crown Specs
XLE and Limited grades come with a 2.5-liter hybrid engine (2 electric motors). The system delivers 236 horsepower, but the mileage is the highlight of this setup. The 2024 Toyota Crown returns 42/41 mpg. We will mention again that all-wheel drive is standard. A six-speed auto transmission sends power to wheels.
A 2.4-liter petrol unit is turbocharged and also gets support by a couple of electric motors. Toyota calls this configuration Hybrid MAX since it creates 340 horsepower. We can see similar setups available on other models with extra power. But, this is more than enough for the Crown Platinum.
The fuel economy pays the price since the turbo engine is thirstier and returns 29/32 mpg. The same transmission and all-wheel drive system are available for this unit.
We can hear that the US version of the car will also get a plug-in hybrid edition. Not a surprise, knowing that other vehicles are already using some impressive configurations. The Crown PHEV will probably get something similar to the Rav4 Prime system.
2024 Toyota Crown EV
A plug-in hybrid model is just one step closer to complete electrification. Well, it is not hard to guess, but we don’t know anything else about the 2024 Toyota Crown EV. The company wants to compete with General Motors and Tesla, not only in the electric sedan segment. Soon, more crossovers, SUVs and trucks will also carry the “EV” badge. It will be interesting to see what Crown can offer.
Other Body Types
In the US, you will find the 2024 Toyota Crown only in sedan form. In other markets, you can also find estate and Crown Sport wagon. The ultimate upgrade of the body style is the crossover.
Grades and Accessories
The entry-level model is the XLE. Toyota packs Crown with 19-inch alloy wheels, Bi-LED automatic lights, eCVT transmission and AWD. The center of the infotainment system is a big, 12.3-inch touchscreen. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard. The package also includes Safety Sense 2.5 suite.
The 2024 Toyota Crown Limited is packed with high-end options but costs less than Platinum because of the weaker hybrid engine. a set of 21-inch 10-spoke wheels is making the sedan eye-catching. Designers also add quad-LED headlights, a panoramic roof, heated and cooled leather seats, a premium JBL audio system with 11 speakers, and lumbar support for the driver’s bucket.
Some of the unique upgrades the Platinum edition is going to offer are the bi-tone paintjobs, panoramic view monitor, adaptive suspension and a special Direct Shift transmission.
2024 Toyota Crown Colors
If you select the XLE model, there are two paints available at no cost – Black and Magnetic Gray Metallic. Supersonic Red, Oxygen White and Heavy Metal are the premium options. Black fabric interior has no alternative.
The Limited model keeps the same exterior shades, but offers more options for the cabin. Leather can be black, macadamia, or the black/dark chestnut combo.
The 2024 Toyota Crown Platinum comes only with the black premium leather interior but extends paintjobs with two-tone mixes. So, you can get your car in Oxygen White, Heavy Metal or Supersonic combined with Black. There is also a unique combo available with the Bronze Age shade.
