The smallest crossover from the Japanese luxury brand has been around for about four years, so it’s no surprise that rumors about potential updates appeared a while ago. Although a very good small SUV, the current model has a couple of weak points that clearly suggest that a set of updates would be more than welcome. So far, the company brought a couple of yearly updates, including those in terms of chassis and suspension, but also in terms of the infotainment system and similar things. So, what updates to expect from the 2025 Lexus UX 250h?
Well, one of the first things that comes to mind is the styling, which would receive a typical facelift. But the current model is also criticized for its underpowered hybrid powertrain, so there’s no need to say that everyone expects to see improvements in this aspect as well. Power upgrade is a logical thing that comes to mind, but some sources also speculate about a completely new system under the hood.
In any case, the 2025 Lexus UX 250h is expected to arrive sometime in the second half of 2024.
2025 Lexus UX 250h Design
So, what we expect to see is a typical facelift, which would keep this small crossover fresh and competitive for a few more years. Therefore, visual enhancements are the thing that comes to mind first and, logically, the front end is the area that should receive most of the changes. Tweaks on the headlights, grille and bumper come to mind first, but a few revisions on the rear end are expected too. Finally, count on typical mid-cycle updates, such as new color options and wheels.
On the other hand, the mechanical aspect of this SUV shouldn’t change. We are talking about a familiar platform and chassis setup, based on Tooyta’s GA-C architecture, the same one that underpins models like Corolla Cross and C-HR, so it’s no surprise that these three models share the powertrain as well. In any case, we expect a similar driving experience from the updated model, which is mostly about comfort, while the handling isn’t particularly engaging.
Powertrain
As mentioned, one of the most anticipated upgrades for the 2025 Lexus UX 250h is under the hood. The current model uses a system that combines a 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated engine with two electric motors, for a total output of 181 horsepower. While that’s OK for daily commuting, it isn’t exactly something you would expect from a premium crossover. After all, the more recent sibling, the Corolla Cross, features an updated version of this system, with nearly 200 horsepower, so we are pretty sure that that the UX is about to get the same upgrade.
Moreover, some sources even speculate about the addition of the UX 300h. In that case, we would see a bigger system, based on a 2.5-liter engine, with 220 horsepower.
In any case, the same CVT gearbox will carry on, while buyers will have a choice between front- and all-wheel drive.
Interior
A couple of interior updates are also expected but we don’t expect too many new things to see. Simply put, the current model already looks very nice from the inside. It features a stylish dashboard design, with attractive aesthetics and a fine selection of materials. Typically for Lexus, the build quality is excellent, so we expect the 2025 Lexus UX 250h to continue in the same way.
The thing that definitely won’t change is the seating configuration. Due to the short wheelbase and relatively modest dimensions, the second-row passenger room isn’t particularly generous when compared to key rivals. The same is true with the cargo area, which offers just 17.1 cubic feet behind the second row.
Features
Logically, this update could also bring a few novelties regarding new standards and available equipment. But once again, we don’t expect to see too many changes, considering that the current model already stands pretty well in this aspect.
The current model already comes standard with goodies like an 8-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation, a Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth, voice recognition, a six-speaker audio system, multiple USB ports, a 7-inch digital gauge cluster, dual-zone automatic climate control, push-button start, proximity keyless entry and a digital key (lets you lock, unlock and start the vehicle using your smartphone).
Among upgrades, you can currently get a 12.3-inch touch screen, a 10-speaker premium audio system and wireless device charging, as well as an 8-inch digital gauge cluster, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a universal garage door opener and a moonroof. We presume some of these options are about to become part of the standard equipment.
2025 Lexus UX 250h Release Date and Price
As mentioned, we expect that the 2025 Lexus UX 250h will hit the market sometime in the second half of 2024. Of course, a slight power increase is always possible, compared to the current model which starts at around 36.000 dollars.
