Toyota surprised everyone when the new Corolla Cross was launched. The vehicle took the position between subcompact C-HR and compact Rav4. The crossover range is now fully stacked. The 2025 Toyota Corolla Cross is coming out without major changes. Only three trim levels are available. The company might add another one to refresh the offer. A few more colors could do the job as well.
Recently, we’ve heard rumors about the 2025 Toyota Corolla Cross pickup truck. Do not dismiss the speculations, since the company is preparing a new model. Earlier, Stout was believed to take the position in the small pickup class. It is the new segment and the truck would compete with Ford Maverick.
Pricing for current models will stay the same. A new trim would be the top-of-the-range version with the MSRP above $30,000. The crossover is pretty efficient, but a hybrid configuration would be a good alternative, especially for a compact truck, where towing capacity is not a priority.
Trim Levels and Colors
The 2025 Toyota Corolla Cross will keep three packages available for the current model. Those are L, LE and XLE. The entry-level configuration is not bringing impressive options. Steel wheels, a basic sound system, a couple of USB ports, LED headlights and cloth upholstery are waiting for buyers of the Corolla Cross L.
The LE adds alloy wheels, tinted rear glass, remote entry, automatic climate controls, a wireless charger, more USB ports and speakers, and a blind-spot monitor for the safety system. This trim level also unlocks additional optional upgrades. The XLE brings the most equipment. Still, Toyota is not making it a luxurious crossover with high-end features. TRD packages are not likely to debut, but something similar to the Limited edition from other crossovers and SUVs could improve the offer.
Four colors are available for the base package – Celestite, Jet Black, and Sonic Silver are standard, while the Wind Chill Pearl is premium paint. The LE adds three more options – Cypress, Barcelona Red Metallic and Blue Crush Metallic. Some hybrid configurations will offer dual-tone paintjobs, and the top trim comes with a unique yellow shade.
The only drivetrain available for the new crossover is a 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder unit. The same unit is producing power to a smaller C-HR. The 2025 Toyota Corolla Cross offers more juice – 169 hp and 150 lb-ft of torque. The new model is returning better gas mileage and AWD is optional. Even with this setup you are getting 30 mpg combined.
A hybrid configuration is also available. For the Rav4, such a system makes 40+ mpg and Corolla Cross beats it with 45/38 mpg. A PHEV is considered for the Corolla Cross. Like the sedan with the same name, the crossover might get the GR tuning and a performance edition. Nevertheless, don’t expect some huge outputs.
Why Buy 2025 Toyota Corolla Cross?
The crossover is positioned between the most popular Rav4 and subcompact C-HR. It is more potent and more efficient than the smaller sibling. It is also packed with more advanced options, more space in the cabin and cargo area, and the safety is intuitive. On the other hand, the upcoming 2025 Toyota Corolla Cross might get a few extra storage compartments for small items, especially in the front row. The second row is not too comfortable, but that is a general issue for small crossovers. As said, the base model is really unimpressive and feels overpriced. Not too many upper packages are offered before. The 2025 YM should fix that.
2025 Toyota Corolla Cross Pickup Truck
Here is the craziest story about this nameplate. The 2025 Toyota Corolla Cross pickup truck is a serious rumor. The company needs a small truck to compete with the Ford Maverick. Earlier, Toyota filed for registration of the Stout and many experts believed the manufacturer is preparing the pitch for the debut of the new vehicle. But, a new dose of speculations brought a new theory. The compact truck would be based on the small crossover and it makes sense. Other similar pickups are using the same recipe. If this happens, we could see the same drivetrain options and packages. Basically, the crossover would be turned into a truck.
The base MSRP for the 2025 Toyota Corolla Cross stays under $25,000. We expect a pickup truck to be available at a similar level. The LE is a $2,000 upgrade, while the XLE will be around $29,000. If you opt for a hybrid engine, it is more expensive. Except the entry-level model, two higher-end trims will cost above $30,000.
There are no too many subcompact crossovers similar to the Corolla Cross. A few companies built a vehicle between subcompact and compact class. Some of them are Nissan Rogue Sport, Chevy Trailblazer, and Subaru Crosstrek. A hybrid engine gives an edge to Toyota’s model over the competition.
