It’s been five years since the Supra came back after a long break in production. So, we expect a facelift of the sports car whose price starts from $44,000. Nevertheless, it goes up pretty quick, if you decide to replace a 2.0-liter engine with a six-pot mill. The limited offer for the A91 package won’t be available. The 2024 Toyota Supra is getting something to replace it as the top of the line version. One of the options that will become available is airtop, also called Targa top on one of the predecessors from the 1990s.
Well, all those are minor changes. But, the question is – how much the company is willing to invest into the dying class. Cars are not popular anymore. Some companies even discontinued most of the lineup in this realm. The comeback of the Supra was a surprise. Well, it is developed in partnership with the GR team. Fans can also find several other vehicles with the Gazoo Racing package, including Corolla hatchback, GR86 sports car, and Hilux truck.
2024 Toyota Supra Engines
Under the hood of the 2024 Toyota Supra is a 2.0-liter turbo-four unit with 255 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission is a power router. A four-banger is a good choice if you want to keep the balance between efficiency and performance. The configuration returns 25/31 mpg. After the redesign, we believe there won’t be big changes.
An alternative is a 3.0-liter I6. Thanks to the turbocharged settings, the outputs are significantly higher – 382 hp and 368 lb-ft of torque. More impressive is acceleration. The Supra hits 60 mph from stop in less than 4 seconds. A manual transmission can replace the automatic gearbox. The cost you pay is increased gas mileage on the open road. 2024 Toyota Supra Grades and Equipment
The base version of the 2024 Toyota Supra is centered around a 2.0-liter engine. Two other versions we will definitely see are going to use a 3.0-l displacement. Also, potential limited editions are coming with an I6 motor. Highlights of the entry-level version, besides a turbo-four engine, are 18-inch wheels, LED lights with automatic high beams, Alcantara leather, sports seats, and a cruise control. Infotainment system offers 8.8-inch screen, four-speaker audio, and a single USB port. We have a feeling that Toyota is not putting too much focus on this kind of stuff.
Supra 3.0 is using larger engine, larger 19-inch forger wheels, sport differential, Brembo brakes, and adaptive dampers to make a ride sportier and more comfortable. Driver’s bucket is power-adjustable and comes with memory settings. Audio system gets a boost and features 10 speakers. The 3.0 Premium model adds HUD, a wireless charger, and advanced USB port. Genuine leather is adding a touch of luxury. Sport pedals, red calipers, and cast-iron brake discs enhance a sporty impression.
Limited Edition, Colors, Targa Top
The A91 is the current limited edition, available in the last two seasons. The 2024 Toyota Supra will drop this one and replace it with a new version. We still don’t know precisely what it can bring, but the targa top is one of the options fans would like to see. Of course, special wheels and carbon details will be there again.
Five colors are available for all three models. These are Renaissance Red, Absolute Zero, Nocturnal, and two premium paints – Nitro Yellow and Stratosphere. Of course, at least one new shade should update the palette. Since the A91 is leaving the lineup, its unique paintjobs can become available for the standard lineup – Burnout and CU Later Gray.
Competition
Toyota made a strong impact by relaunching the Supra. It become even better when the public found out that the GR package is included. With such equipment and performance, the car can compete with some of the iconic German vehicles, such as the Porsche Cayman or BMW M2. Also, in the US, many people see it as a good alternative to Mustang GT. Of course, there is the Japanese archrival with the next-gen version, Nissan Z.
2024 Toyota Supra Pricing, Facelift and Release Date
From what we can hear, the new car should be ready for the next season. But, Toyota is yet to confirm the redesign of the GR Supra. Well, the vehicle should be out by the end of 2023. The level of changes will decide how much the price goes up. For now, the base edition starts from $44,000 and the 3.0 is a $9,000 upgrade (including all other stuff that come along with an I6 engine). Limited edition will be over $60,000. Also, the 2024 Toyota Supra might get a hybrid version. Well, the company is electrifying everything, and the car won’t be exception.
