Why Buy 2024 Toyota GR86?
We can already talk about the pros and cons of the sports car. The 2024 Toyota GR86 will be a carry-over. So, no big changes will be there to change the overall impression about the vehicle. Like every Toyota vehicle, the GR86 is reliable and has great resale value. It is fun to drive, even more than you can imagine. The price is another thing that will draw attention. Handling is exceptional and manual transmission only boosts the feeling. The GR86 is not too big but gets enough power for cruising.
The annoying thing about the 2024 Toyota GR86 is the cabin noise. The company should think about some kind of isolation. You can’t store too many items inside, since the trunk is very limited. Rear seats are cramped, so you can rather use them to keep some cargo there. The gas mileage would be better with an automatic transmission. Outputs are 228 hp and 185 lb-ft of torque. The powerplant is mated to a six-speed manual transmission to deliver the best feeling. Optionally, you can select a six-speed auto, which saves some fuel. With a stick, you can get 20/27 mpg, while the automatic transmission improves the mileage to 22/31 mpg.
This leaves room for speculation – could the 2024 Toyota GR86 get a performance package with a turbocharged engine? We don’t want to disappoint fans, but even Subaru dropped its famous turbo configurations. But, the GR86 came back in style. A sportier ride is always welcome. Of course, knowing Toyota, the car could easily end up with a hybrid unit as well.
2024 Toyota GR86 Grades and Equipment
There are three models available for the vehicle. But, the 10th anniversary passed, so this version will no longer be offered, at least not under this name. Still, Toyota will have to upgrade the lineup somehow.
The base version comes with a set of 17-inch wheels, a manual gearbox, a limited-slip rear differential, heated mirrors and keyless entry feature. Buyers are also getting a dual-zone climate control, tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel and a 7-inch driver’s display. The center of infotainment system is an 8’’ touchscreen and it also features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone services, satellite radio and a six-speaker audio system. Toyota Safety Sense offers adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking and lane departure alert as the standard options.
Upgrading the vehicle to the Premium trim level brings larger wheels with special tires, adaptive headlights, special rear spoiler, and aluminum pedals. Instead of a cloth upholstery, there are simulated suede seats with leather bolsters and a heated front row. The infotainment system is getting an upgrade with extra speakers for audio. On the safety end, the GR86 Premium adds a blind-spot monitor, rear parking sensors and automatic reverse braking.
Special Edition and Colors
The Anniversary Edition is no longer available. The new 2024 Toyota GR86 will come with another special package. The sportier look comes with racing graphics, unique wheels, and an upgraded exhaust system. The Solar Shift paint will be removed. Other options will stay available. Colors of the GR86 are Track Bred, Neptune, Trueno Blue, Raven, Halo, Pavement and Steel.
2024 Toyota GR86 Prices
The 2024 Toyota GR86 will remain one of the best buys. The pricing starts from $28,000. Automatic transmission is a $1,500 upgrade. Only Track Bred is a premium color. The Premium grade starts from $31,000.
The unique special edition model will be just under $35,000 and it brings colors and features no other vehicle can offer. You can also buy the Subaru BRZ, a mechanical twin of the GR86. Prices are very similar. The difference – Subaru deploys 4WD all the way, while Toyota is using an RWD.
