Still, the 2024 Toyota Tundra Capstone will be the top of the range option thanks to the advanced tech and accessories the company is packing into this bundle. The price is the only downside we can figure out at the moment, hitting $80,000. Besides that, the Capstone edition is flawless.
The size truck is now more competitive in the full-size segment. Previously, Toyota didn’t have any grade to fight against Ford F-150 Limited, Chevy Silverado High Country, and GMC Sierra 1500 Denali. The 2024 Toyota Tundra Capstone is definitely something worth checking out. It uses the new I-Force Max hybrid drivetrain with 437 hp and 583 lb-ft of torque. With those numbers, the old V8 is already forgotten, although experts were unsure about the switch.
2024 Toyota Tundra Capstone Features
The 2024 Toyota Tundra Capstone is built on the Platinum version, which already comes with premium upgrades, such as leather upholstery and ambient lighting. The seats and steering wheels are power-adjustable. JBL installs audio, and the infotainment system also offers wireless chargers. A panoramic sunroof makes the overall impression even better. The Platinum edition also helps you with towing with backup guidance and a 360-degree camera. Power outlets are in the cabin and bed.
From there, the Capstone edition adds large 22-inch wheels, unique interior and exterior accents, and HUD. The ultimate upgrade is noise-isolating windows. There are not too many options left with all these gadgets already available. You can add Advanced Package with load-leveling rear air suspension and adaptive suspension dampers, and the PVM+BSM towing mirrors.
2024 Toyota Tundra Capstone Specs
Under the hood of the 2024 Toyota Tundra Capstone is a hybrid configuration called I-Force Max. Instead of an old V8, a more efficient V6 is powering the latest generation of the pickup truck. Thanks to turbochargers, it delivers enough power for the big rig. A hybrid system upgrades the entire configuration and helps Tundra achieve 437 hp and 583 lb-ft of torque. A part-time 4WD is standard. It comes in a bundle with an electronically controlled transfer case and auto LSD. The Capstone package is available only in the Crewmax cab with a short bed. Still, that doesn’t affect the towing capacity, which is limited to 12,000 pounds.
Other Models
The Capstone is the premium trim level and draws more attention. But, when you mention Tundra, there are a few other packages that are more interesting to buyers. As said, the 2024 Toyota Tundra Capstone is pretty expensive, with a price tag sitting just under $80,000.
The TRD Pro is definitely the most impressive truck thanks to its ultimate off-road skills. The company is revisiting this grade, so it can become an even meaner truck. A lighter version is the Tundra Trailhunter. The all-new package will debut in the 2024 YM. The 1794 Edition is the Platinum package with unique badging, which makes it a bit special.
The base version is SR and costs under $40,000. The SR5 adds $5,500 in equipment, Limited is already above $50,000 and the Platinum/1794 Edition is another $10k upgrade. Tundra TRD Pro is a bit cheaper than the 2024 Toyota Tundra Capstone, but you still need to splash $70k.
New Off-Road Grade: Tundra Trailhunter
Fans heard about the Trailhunter concept last year. At the same time, we could read rumors about the new TRD Pro package. Some say that Trailhunter might replace it. This is the overland package with improved off-road skills and camping equipment. The truck has one of the largest aftermarket upgrades sales, and this is going to be a factory option. It means you won’t lose the warranty. Nevertheless, many buyers will still opt to visit workshops and tune its pickup with custom parts. But, the Trailhunter is going to meet the demands of some fans.
Competition
As the premium truck, the 2024 Toyota Tundra Capstone will face high-end versions of other half-ton pickups. Ford F-150 Limited is the most expensive model in this segment, priced over $90,000. Our favorite is the all-new Denali Ultimate for the GMC Sierra 1500. Fans of the Chevy Silverado can find similar equipment on the High Country trim. Nissan doesn’t offer its Titan in premium variants.
The market for luxury trucks is dead, so this is the only way to offer premium options to buyers looking for more. Cadillac Escalade EX, Lincoln Mark LT and similar pickups are discontinued and we won’t see them back anytime soon. Toyota has the perfect platform, but the Lexus truck remains only a dream.
